Cradle Table
This chair derived from a form analysis of a stretchable mesh material. Seeing the compression of the mesh as an entry point, I attempted to design a chair that could easily transition into a table with just a change in the tautness of its primary fabric. Although there is more research left for this exploration, it was a god exercise at arriving at a typology from an abstract concept.
I wanted the transition to be smooth and simple, so in my ideations I drew and built various sketch model forms that could potentially work.
I was also inspired by one of my classmates need for a comfortable surface to change her baby that she could also easily store or use in a way that made best use of the limited space in her home.
